Changes: 2009 to 2012

Last week, I got a  phone call from the team manager at work asking me if I would like to volunteer (or I guess I should say volunteer my baby) for an OB Ultrasound class that was going to be held at Edmond Integris.

Any reason to take a peek at my baby? Yes please! :)

Of course, I gladly agreed (after rearranging my work schedule to make it work). It was actually perfect timing because I was thinking about taking a look at her at work sometime soon since it has been a while since my ultrasound at 19 weeks. I know not everyone has this luxury of getting an ultrasound whenever, so I realize I should count myself lucky that I have that option. But this way, it was for teaching purposes so of course I will let fellow co workers use my baby!

Everything still looks great of course! It was actually really nice because the teacher there went through and explained everything they were looking at. So it is definitely reassuring to here her repeatedly say, "That looks great! Everything is normal." Music to a new mommy's ears.

The best part of the ultrasound was catching a big yawn from Ava. So sweet! All those reflexes are developing just perfectly!

Here is the profile picture we got. I'm pretty sure she is going to have my nose. Her nose continues to be very evident on the past two ultrasounds. Wes and I decided that it looks a lot like mine. Only time will tell!

Although I am very glad I got her nursery pretty much done already, I have started to wish I maybe didn't get it done QUITE so quickly. There just isn't anything to do....I go in there and look around, trying to find something to decorate or work on....nothing...

I have told myself not to buy any more clothes (or really anything for that matter) until after I have at least one baby shower.

Today I broke down and bought her a few things. This is probably only a glimpse of what is to come. I'm sure I will always find something to buy her while I'm out running errands. :)

We have a new Carter's that just opened up near our house so I just had to go in and take a look around. And what would ya guess that are having a big Memorial Day sale; 70% off!

Ugh...so tempting...and I had a 20% off coupon to use before the end of the month.

Okay...just a few things! So I walked out with a couple pairs of socks, bibs, stuffed elephant, bows, and one three piece outfit. I didn't go too crazy but did break my rule of not buying any more for her. It's so hard not to!

The only other purchase that has been made is a car seat, base, and stroller I bought from a co-worker. The car seat was barely used and the stroller was still in the package. $150 seemed reasonable for all three so I jumped on the opportunity. One less thing to worry about.

The weeks are starting to go by slower and slower lately. We are ready (probably but not at the same time) for her to be here. The thought of still having to battle the summer heat while pregnant makes my due date seem that much farther away.

I know...I know...it will be here before we know it. I am trying to be patient and enjoy the pregnancy (and our freedom) while I can. :)

Yesterday was Wes and Dave's 27th birthday. The tradition is to go to Red Rock and eat dinner. This year was no different and so Red Rock it was!

For the first time in a loooong time I actually remembered to take pictures. Surprising, I know!

Since Red Rock has become an annual occurrence I wanted to be sure and take pictures and compare with previous years. This will be the 4th birthday Wes and I have celebrated together. The first birthday was just one month after dating and now four years later....married with a baby on the way. Time sure does go by quickly, whether you want it to or not.

Regardless of how fast we feel that life is moving, we are so incredibly happy and so excited to take on the next journey that is ahead of us. God has been faithful in our lives and has blessed us beyond what we could have ever imagined.

Life is moving fast but life sure is good. ;)

I have started another tradition of making Wes and Dave's birthday cake every year. You may remember my post about the carrot cake I made a while back and it has become their favorite. I got creative with the decorating this year. :)

Not quite sure why this angle looks like the cake is leaning...it might be! ha

This was the picture taken the first year at Red Rock after just one month of dating.

And now...four years later and four years older!

Dave and Jenkins. Love these two!

<3 How did I get so lucky to have such a handsome husband? <3

2009.....

and 2012

The birthday boys at age 24. Nice hair, Dave. :)

and now at age 27. Lookin' good boys!

The three of us then...

and now!

Dave, Bobbye, and Wes: 2009

2012

Boys being boys...the "mafia" face. Priceless.

And the biggest change since 2009 besides a new marriage: a new baby on the way!!

Next year we will have a new addition to all the pictures.

We will go from a family of two to a family of three! Changes are happening indeed! <3

 Pregnancy Ticker

Weeks 24 and 25

I'm a little behind on my weekly updates so I will combine two weeks into one! :)

Pregnancy Highlights

24 Weeks

25 Weeks

Looks like I've had a thing for wearing black lately huh?

How Far Along: 25 weeks

Size of baby: Baby is now 13-15 inches and about 1.5-2.5 lbs (she's officially hit the "pounds" mark!); about the size of a cauliflower (interesting analogy isn't it?).

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Getting pretty close to 10 lbs so far.

Maternity Clothes: Oh yes! Above is one of the maternity dresses I bought recently. LOVE wearing dresses any chance I can get!

Gender: Girl! So excited! :) "Ava Rae"

Movement: ALL the time!! And her movements just keep getting stronger and stronger. I'm going to kind of miss her fluid movements once she doesn't have as much room to move around. She seems like she is enjoying herself in there! Happy baby!

Sleep: Definitely no problems sleeping. LOVE sleep! :)

What I miss: I honestly can't think of a single thing right now. I am truly enjoying being pregnant at this stage of the game. Feel great and not too uncomfortable....yet!

Cravings: Anything sweet! I keep saying this girl is going to come out on a sugar high. :)

Symptoms: My newest symptom is the heartburn/reflux. I first noticed laying down one night and now it's pretty much every day. Luckily, Pepcid takes care of it for at least 12 hours. They say that heartburn is a sign that they are growing so I won't complain. My back and pelvis still ache on occasion; usually only after working and being on my feet for 12 hours.

Best Moment this week:  I have noticed I want to hold the babies at work more often. We weigh them at night and at times I don't want to take them back to their room so I can just hold them. Then I realize, I am ready for this and I can't wait. I can't believe Wes and I will be parents so soon! I see so much of their parents in these little ones and just wonder who Ava is going to look like....three more months and we will see!

Week 23

Pregnancy Highlights

I wasn't exactly photo op ready this week so I decided on a little different look at the bump. :)

How Far Along: 23 weeks

Size of baby: Baby is now 10.5 to 11.8 inches and about 12.7 to 20.8 ounces; about the size of a grapefruit.  She must be getting bigger because her movements are getting stronger. :)

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Between 7-8 pounds so far. I hear the baby's weight will start to really pick up soon, so the weight might be changing soon too!

Maternity Clothes: Oh yes! Bought a couple of maternity dresses and I love them! I found out very quickly that regular dresses don't exactly flatter the pregnant body very well. I also had to purchase a pair of capris and shorts for the summer. None of my pre pregnancy bottoms fit at all, so full blown maternity clothes it is. I have noticed even some of my tshirts are starting to get too small, uh oh!
Gender: Girl! So excited! :) "Ava Rae"

Stuck By My Side

At the very beginning of my pregnancy, not long after we found out I was pregnant, I started noticing some changes in Lexi.

They say that dogs have a sixth sense (so to speak) and can know when you are pregnant. Some will say they all of a sudden become very distant as if they know they have a little competition now. Others would say the opposite and say they instantly had a pup that was glued to their side since day one.

Based on my blog title you would think I am going to say that Lexi was the pup that is now glued to my side but this isn't necessarily true...

Up until about a week ago, Lexi has honestly wanted nothing to do with me. She wasn't completely ignoring me but she definitely had chosen her favorite "parent" between Wes and I. She was all about Wes; always in his lap, always licking his face, and even would get jealous if I got too close to him!

She always nestled up next him when we would lay in bed at night. I couldn't even coax her into sleeping next to me!

We started to wonder if this was a glimpse of how she will be with the new baby; jealous. It was so out of her nature to be THIS jealous over me. Wes and I would be sitting on the couch and if Wes attempted to hold my hand or rub my back, Lexi got entirely upset and would sometimes go as far as growling at me!

We sure have our work cut out for us when this baby arrives....Lexi is really not going to understand.

This jealous demeanor stayed true up until just a week ago and now it has all changed....

As I mentioned before, I went to Lawton to see my parents last week and of course took Lexi along with me. She loves going to Lawton and getting to see my parent's dog, Beamer. She just plays and plays and never acts worn out until we get in the car on the way home and you would think she was sick she is so exhausted. So it's never that I am the center of her attention when we are there...Beamer is. But she did spend three full days with just me and not Wes.

When we got back home, Wes picked me up for lunch and as he was dropping me back off I said he should come inside real quick and say "hi" to Lexi before he went back to work. So he did. And what response did he get out of her?

Nothing...maybe a small tail wag but that was IT. She greeted him very quickly then ran up to me, jumping like crazy.

Huh?....that was different. Give her a little one-on-one time with mom and she's all of a sudden made a switch!I figured it wouldn't last long and before I knew it, she would be right back to Wes.

Well....I will let these pictures I have taken over the past week let you decide if her loyalty changed much...

This is where she is EVERY morning. The second I sit down with my coffee, here she comes climbing into my lap to fall asleep. Not a usual occurrence. (Notice her paw around my belly...)

She stayed this way for at least an hour; snoring.

She woke up because she heard a noise outside, but she didn't go very far.
Looks like she is protecting baby Ava.

More times than not, her head is resting on my belly. Do you think she can hear baby?

She must know something....and it must be soothing. Such a sweet girl. :)

I have had a full week off from work this week and she has been stuck by my side the whole time. I really do wonder what she has picked up on and why all of a sudden? Maybe it is just because I have been home so much, who knows. Or is she bonding with baby?

I work all weekend so we will see if the loyalty continues since I won't be home. I will admit, I am enjoying her deciding to be mommy's girl. :)

Anyone have any interesting stories about their pets during pregnancy? Jealous? Or sweet and protective?
